Referee Rosario Abisso will sit out the next three rounds of Serie A after his controversial performance during Fiorentina-Inter.

Abisso came under fire for his decision to award Fiorentina an injury-time penalty against Inter on Sunday, despite the ball clearly hitting Danilo D’Ambrosio’s chest.

That prompted Nerazzurri general manager Beppe Marotta to accuse the Sicilian of causing his club ‘irreparable damage’ as they dropped two points in the 3-3 draw.

Consequently, Abisso will not be allowed to officiate again until March 24, ruling him out of action for the next month.

Furthermore, he will not be assigned any more Inter games for the remainder of the season.
