Former Fiorentina midfielder Antonio Di Gennaro has stated that the club can realistically aim to reach the Champions League this season.
Vincenzo Montella's side have started the campaign in impressive fashion, winning five of their first 10 Serie A games, and the 54-year-old Italy international has claimed that, with some investment in January, the Viola could push for a top three finish.
“Montella is sending a clear message to Italian football,” he told Radio Lady. “The entire team playing short, passing football is something new in Italy – you do not see any other team doing the same thing.
“Fiorentina, with the squad they've got, must aim for the Champions League. If a few new names arrive in January, I think that's a real possibility.”
The Tuscan side host Cagliari on Sunday, kick off 14.00 BST.
