The controversy continued well after the final whistle of Inter’s 4-3 win away to Fiorentina, with reports Viola President Rocco Commisso tried to break down the locker room door.

It was a chaotic match decided in stoppages by Henrikh Mkhitaryan and there were several contentious incidents, above all Federico Dimarco not seeing red for his knee-high foul on Giacomo Bonaventura and a possible Edin Dzeko foul in the build-up to the final goal.

There was tension at the final whistle and a scuffle broke out on the touchline.

According to news agency ANSA and La Gazzetta dello Sport, the row continued into the tunnel of the Stadio Artemio Franchi and Fiorentina President Commisso allegedly punched the locker room door, trying to smash it down.

Fiorentina have already denied this was the version of events, insisting that it was director general Joe Barone who opened a door that had been incorrectly closed, which leads from the VIP seating area to the tunnel and the locker rooms.

La Repubblica and Firenzeviola.it, meanwhile, report that in the VIP seating area there was an exchange of some extremely heated words between directors Barone and Beppe Marotta.

  1. Hecky stop writing delusional crap, refereeing prevented Inter from winning last season’s Scudetto. Gifting it to an average team instead

  2. @Francesco: That average squad whooped your arses again this season. You must be the inspiration for the derby tifo 🙂

  3. @Francesco that average team has beaten you twice in the last three league meetings. You only managed a draw in the other meeting. Delusional.

  4. The reality is that arguing whether Inter or Milan are stronger is like arguing whether Celtic or Rangers are stronger.bthebargumentbis very parochial. Europe is the real test and all Italian clubs have failed for years unfortunately.

  5. To bunga and Samantha the clueless milanisti, 2-1 last season when Giroud fouled Sanchez before you scored and a close 3-2 derby win this season, now compare that to Inter winning 3-0 twice in 2021 in Serie A and last season in Coppa semi. Those were clear deserved wins.
