Former Lazio midfielder Stefano Fiore believes the Biancocelesti can finish third this season and qualify for the Champions League.
Stefano Pioli’s side currently sit fifth in the standings, but are only two points behind Napoli in the third and final Champions League spot.
“Third place must be their goal,” former Aquile man Fiore is reported as saying by Lalaziosiamonoi.
“I think Napoli are the best equipped and are favourites, but it’s a long season.
“The current ranking in the table may reflect the final one, but if one of the three were to struggle, Lazio would take their place.”
The former Italian international also discussed Lazio’s weekend defeat to Empoli, as well as their upcoming clash with champions Juventus.
“Everyone struggled at Empoli. Mistakes on set-pieces cost them. But the desire for revenge can spur this team on against Juventus, there’s no better opponent to face.
“It won’t be easy, because Juventus are proving to be so hungry. Lazio will have to fight for every ball, and hope for a little bit of luck, because without that they won’t be able to win.”
