Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero won’t confirm Patrik Schick’s next destination. “It’s a fascinating Roma-Napoli duel!”

The striker is widely expected to be joining Roma tomorrow evening for €6m loan and another €30m obligation to buy, plus €2m bonuses.

However, Napoli evidently remain in the running, offering cash plus Duvan Zapata, Lorenzo Tonelli and Vlad Chiriches.

“Schick is leaving,” Ferrero told Mediaset Premium in his usual jocular style.

“Tomorrow I am taking a train back to my house (in Rome), so if Roma come over, they’ll find me. It’s a fascinating Roma-Napoli duel for the lad, I just want him to go somewhere he can play and express his talent.

“Schick goes, we’ll bring in a shock!”

However, when Ferrero spoke to Sky Sport Italia and was asked if there was a meeting planned tomorrow with Roma to decide his future, the response was different.

"That is the general direction."
