Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero admits his team’s derby draw with Genoa was ‘a missed opportunity.’
The Blucerchiati were thwarted by their rivals’ stubborn defending and could only manage a goalless stalemate at Marassi in last night’s Serie A clash.
The result means Samp have been leapfrogged by resurgent Fiorentina in the battle for Europa League qualification, with Ferrero describing it as ‘two points lost.’

The result means Samp have been leapfrogged by resurgent Fiorentina in the battle for Europa League qualification, with Ferrero describing it as ‘two points lost.’
“I think it was a missed opportunity. We didn’t earn one point, but lost two,” the President commented.
“We were the only team who played, but you need to shoot on target if you want to win.
“In football you win by scoring goals. I am not angry, I just have a bit of a headache.
“However, it’s a game. We got one point each and it doesn’t hurt anyone.”
Samp’s next Serie A assignment is a trip to champions Juventus next weekend.
