Ciro Ferrara is confident “Sampdoria have what it takes to hurt Fiorentina” on Sunday evening.
The Blucerchiati have had a stuttering campaign so far, including seven consecutive defeats, but appear to be back on track with two straight wins.
“Fiorentina are one of the teams who play the best football in Serie A, but Sampdoria have what it takes to hurt them, just as we always have done against the big clubs,” said Coach Ferrara.
“I am not going to draw up any timetable of our progress, but it’s clear that the last two victories have given us a psychological boost too.”
The striker shortage continues with Maxi Lopez, Eder and Nicola Pozzi all unavailable, plus defender Andrea Costa suspended.
“Mauro Icardi wants to play with his national team and received a call from the Argentina Under-20 side, but we can’t let him go right now. We have to wait for the other strikers to recover first.”
