Lewis Ferguson reveals he spoke to Aaron Hickey before accepting the transfer to Bologna, his fellow Scotland international assuring it was ‘the right move for me.’

The midfielder turns 23 next month and completed his €3.5m transfer from Aberdeen FC, following in the footsteps of Hickey at the Stadio Dall’Ara.

Scottish players don’t have much of a tradition in Serie A, but that is changing now with Hickey, Ferguson, Josh Doig at Verona and of course Liam Henderson at Empoli.

“The guys have been really welcoming because most speak English,” Ferguson said in his press conference.

“I spoke to Aaron before coming here, he spoke really positively about the city, the people and the football team, so made it clear this was the right move for me.”

Hickey came to Bologna from Hearts in 2020 for €1.7m and was sold to Brentford this month for €16.5m, a sign of how much he developed while playing in Italy.
