Iago Falque insists Roma “played better than Bayer Leverkusen” and deserved the victory in a 4-4 draw.
The former Genoa winger thought he’d sealed the win in Germany with the fourth goal, but a late comeback denied Roma their first Champions League away victory since 2010.
“We were playing well, they scored a great goal out of nowhere and it pushed them on towards the equaliser,” Iago Falque told Roma TV.

“We were playing well, they scored a great goal out of nowhere and it pushed them on towards the equaliser,” Iago Falque told Roma TV.
“We were bringing home a great result. When there were 10 minutes to go and they got it back to 3-4, they poured forward with the enthusiasm of the crowd and we struggled.
“The fact remains we did fight back from 2-0 down to lead 4-2 and we played better than Bayer Leverkusen overall.”
The Giallorossi are bottom of the group with two points from three games. Barcelona lead with seven, then Bayer four and BATE Borisov three points.
“We still have two games to play on home turf, so if we get six points from those we’ve got a good chance, then we can go to Barcelona and gamble.”
