The former Inter player whose uncle is the source for the betting scandal hit out at the entire situation. ‘I don’t know why he is doing this. People are just saying random names.’

Gossip columnist and King of the Paparazzi Fabrizio Corona had said his source was the uncle of a former Inter player, who was close friends with Mario Balotelli.

He also released some clips online of the audio recordings had with the source, which caught the attention of 33-year-old winger Antonio Esposito.

The player spent time in the Inter youth academy and the main squad, leaving in 2012, but only ever made 33 appearances for the Inter Primavera youth team.

“I am distraught, what is happening is shocking,” Esposito told news agency ANSA.

“I recognised my uncle’s voice in the recording. I don’t know why he is doing this, you’d have to ask him. I am not being investigated.

“I have nothing to do with this, people around the situation are just saying random names.”

His uncle claims that he is among the illegal bookmakers who work with players to place bets anonymously.

Among the names mentioned so far by Corona as partaking in illegal betting are Sandro Tonali, Nicolò Zaniolo, Stephan El Shaarawy, Federico Gatti, Nicolò Fagioli, Nicola Zalewski and Nicolò Casale.
