“Italian football isn’t the same as it was, when it was like the NBA in basketball,” Emre explained to Gazzetta dello Sport’s Extra Time supplement.

“Italian football isn’t the same as it was, when it was like the NBA in basketball,” Emre explained to Gazzetta dello Sport’s Extra Time supplement.
“Now foreign countries have more appeal and more money, Italy is struggling to keep up. That said, Inter will always remain in my heart.
“It was the first time I had left my own country. I have so many memories, they immediately welcomed me as one of them.
“Then there was [President Massimo] Moratti, a gentleman of football and a true champion.
“Juventus and Milan? Their growth was constant, we changed too much on the bench and on the pitch, so we had a hard time winning.
“Then there was Calciopoli. We had a similar situation in Turkey in 2010. It was a heavy blow for all of Italian football.
“Psychologically it was tough, we gave 100 per cent while outside things were happening…
“Regrets? My goodbye, I’ll never forgive myself for that. I was 25 and had a different mentality, if I could go back I’d stay at Inter.”
