“I am happy that we achieved something important by winning the Champions League group, but we mustn’t rest on our laurels,” said the Coach in his Press conference.
“Chievo represent a tough fixture after a Champions League high, but I want a response from the whole squad and to win on our travels again after the draw at Genoa. We can confirm the good work done so far.
“As for the Scudetto race, Roma staged a great comeback last season, but didn’t win anything. I am therefore cautious to the right degree, because the atmosphere around this club always needs dampening down, we can use our performances to fire up the fans.
“I believe many players see Roma as an ambition and even more so once the new stadium is built. The players believe in this team, in this project and want to bring home the results. I won’t tell you the line-up, because I want everyone on their toes.
“We have a lot to prove still on Italian and international level, but are on the right path and every player must consider themselves important to the team.
“There’s no need for squad rotation when we played five days ago. I just have to evaluate Diego Perotti and Alessandro Florenzi, who didn’t train in the same way as the others.
“I won’t say if Patrik Schick will play, but he could even start and I don’t know yet in what role. I want to ensure everyone thinks they’ll play and are ready to go.”
