After speaking about the his belief that he receives 'insults rather than criticism' from fans, the Bosnian then went on to put poor results under Rudi Garcia down to inadequate training.
"It's true, there was a chance go to Juventus," the striker told Il Messaggero. "But I'm here and I'm happy with my choice.
"Before coming here, many players told me that they train a lot in Italy. I joked with [Roberto] Mancini who had warned me to prepare myself to run.
"And I confirmed the same thing with [Stevan] Jovetic. Then I came to Roma and it was not exactly as had been predicted with Rudi Garcia.
"It was also our fault, many of us were tired, they had problems but also Rudi did not do much in training.
"At that point it became difficult to play well for 90 minutes. After 70 we were all tired.
"He needed to be a little harder on us, just like [Luciano] Spalletti is. You have to avoid someone who relaxes you too much.
"Spalletti wants more and more from me and the whole team. We are players and human beings with real emotions.
"So I would like to hear from him every now and again, for him to give me a compliment. To know I have done well.
"But I have nothing against Spalletti. I want to do more and more. what it says to me is an incentive.
"Spalletti believes a Coach must let players know who's the boss. He has these features, as it was with [Felix] Magath at Wolfsburg at times. Spalletti is one that always wants to win and this is positive for the team.
"In Rome it’s not easy: if you win three games you've won the league title, if you lose one, everything is bad."
