Dynamo Kiev sporting director Oleksij Mikhailichenko admits “a draw would be a good result” against Napoli.

The Partenopei are in Ukraine to face the first match of their Champions League campaign, and while the home side aim to win, they’d be happy with a draw too.

“I’ve followed Napoli since the beginning and they impressed me in the Palermo match,” Mikhailichenko told Tuttomercatoweb.

“They went to Palermo to play with all their strength and crushed the opponent. I think they’re the favourites to win the group, but we’ll play as it’s a balanced group.

“We’re ready, perhaps lacking a bit of energy since we’re coming from the direct clash with Shakhtar [Donetsk] and before that our players were busy with their national teams.

“We need to regain our strength but there’s great motivation and here in Kiev there’s the desire and expectation to see good football.

“Our national League is, unfortunately, given that the number of participating teams has dropped to 12 and therefore there’s even more waiting for the other competitions, so this will be a feast of football at the Olimpiyskiy.

“I expect a very tense and balanced match. We know it won’t be easy, but it will be crucial for us to get off on the right foot because we’re fighting for every last point with Besiktas and Benfica.

“Even a draw would be a good result, we hope to achieve it by playing good football.”

The Ukrainian League has been running since July, while Napoli have played just three Serie A matches, will the home side be more up to speed?

“It could be an advantage, but then there’s also the other side of the coin in that there was a season which ended with the European Championships and then our season started soon after.”
