Roberto Donadoni has begun pre-season at Parma this week, and is optimistic looking ahead to the 2012-13 campaign.

The Ducali have already made some moves in the transfer market, selling their 50 per cent share of Sebastian Giovinco back to Juventus and bringing in Amauri and Sotiris Ninis.

Reflecting on this early movement, Donadoni is happy that the future looks bright for the Gialloblu.

“Something has been done and I believe that the club has already moved in the right direction,” the former Italy Coach told reporters at the club’s training retreat base.

“It is clear that we have lost some important players, admittedly, but the spirit of Parma must be this – to have a mix of players with potential, of great value and of great experience, like Amauri can be.”

A player of great value to stay with the club looks to be Gabriel Paletta.

“Paletta? He’s a player who had an excellent season and for this has been sought by many clubs. The fact that he has been taken off the market and will stay with us another year is a major signal on the part of the club for its team and fans.

“We are very happy about this and I hope that we can repeat the excellent that just ended.

“This week is also for those who will join the club, to get to know their fellow teammates with whom they will share the dressing room.”
