The Ducali beat Livorno 2-0 and then waited to hear news from Florence, where Alessio Cerci had a last-gasp penalty saved to leave Torino behind in the table.
“This is the result of what the squad achieved. It has been a marvellous year based on work through 360 degrees, from the President to the stewards,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“I too struggled to understand the extent of this achievement, but the lads are the ones who ought to be talking now, as they deserve the credit.
“We were concentrated on what we needed to do. Except Antonio Cassano, who to be honest was more focused on what was happening elsewhere in the final minutes!
“I am glad Livorno fought hard and showed great dignity, proving they didn’t come here for a picnic. We had to win and hope, that’s what we did.
“This is a great result that the President wanted, especially as it coincides with the club’s Centenary.”
Amauri came off the bench to score a brace in the dramatic 2-0 win over Livorno.
“I told Ama to go on and do what he wanted, as long as he had the grit and determination to go there and score. He couldn’t have done any better!
“Objectively he hasn’t played as much this season, but his contribution is the perfect representation of the team ethic.”
Cassano earned an Italy recall and is in the provisional World Cup squad thanks to his performances for Parma.
“I think Antonio had an exceptional season, but I repeat he did so thanks also to the exceptional help from his teammates. Without them, he would’ve struggled.
“He made me angry at times, I won’t deny it, but he can suddenly turn on the light with a pass and change everything. He said he worked harder than ever this year and I am happy to have made him suffer!”
Finally, Donadoni was asked about rumours he has been approached to replace Clarence Seedorf at Milan, but did not close the door.
“Right now I mustn’t fall into the usual discussions. I think there is a great rapport with the President and everyone, so we have always decided together. Today it’s right we enjoy this great result, then I don’t know what the future holds.
“It would be suicidal for me to say anything other than I am proud to be the Parma Coach on this day. I have a contract, I am very grateful for what Parma gave me and they all deserve the utmost respect.
“Having said that, we’ll talk it over and discuss things over the next few days.”
