Alessio Dionisi says the 2-2 draw against Napoli leaves a bittersweet taste in Sassuolo’s mouths, although it is a ‘fair result.’

The Neroverdi recovered from two goals down, claiming a point against the Serie A leaders, but could have completed the comeback, securing a win. However, a late Gregoire Defrel goal was disallowed after a VAR check.

“I want to compliment my players, we are satisfied, but we have a bittersweet taste in our mouths,” Dionisi told DAZN.

“I think it was an even match, we stayed on the game and the draw is a fair result.

“We are reaching a good balance, we are making some errors and we will make more, but we must continue like this.”

Sassuolo had beaten Juventus and Milan away before tonight’s match. Dionisi changed three players in defence after Sunday’s victory over the Rossoneri.

“I had to because I know Napoli’s characteristics,” the coach explained, “but told the guys that they had played so well at San Siro that they could have played again tonight.”

  1. Another nice goal by Scamacca. We need him for the Playoffs. He’s got to be competing with the likes Vlahovic and Osihmen as they are all the same age.

  2. I agree. I’m starting to get really excited over Scamacca too. As a matter of fact, Mancini would probably be well served to just plug in Sassuolo’s front three for the playoff games and possibly beyond.

  3. Inter should get Scamacca at all cost. Recently he proved that he thrive in big matches something that not all forward can claim.
