The agent of Modibo Diakite has confirmed that Napoli have made contact with the Lazio man regarding a summer move.

The stopper is free to talk to other clubs given that his contract with the capital side will expire at the end of the season.

Reports this morning suggested that the Azzurri have offered the defender a four-year deal worth €900,000 a campaign.

“There has been an important contact with Napoli,” Ulisse Savini told Radio Marte Sport Live. “But the deal has not yet been finalised.

“We still need to conclude things and that will happen in the next few days or probably next week. We’ve decided to run down our contract at Lazio.”

Diakite, currently sidelined with a thigh problem, has appeared in just one Coppa Italia game this term after refusing to sign a new deal in the capital.

Diakite, 25, is expected to replace Hugo Campagnaro who is set to leave Napoli on a free transfer for Inter in June.

Diakite has also been linked with Liverpool, Inter and Juventus.
