Modibo Diakitè has been dropped from Lazio’s Europa League squad and his agents confirm “we received a proposal from Terek Grozny.”

The defender refused to sign a new contract and has therefore been frozen out of their team for the Europa League.

“We were expecting that, considering they bought Michael Ciani and clearly the contract situation affected the decision,” Ulisse Savini told Radio Sei.

“I don’t think there is an interest from Juventus and we certainly do not already have an agreement with anyone.

“Yesterday we received a proposal from Russian side Terek Grozny, who spoke directly to Lazio President Claudio Lotito, but we have no intention of moving to Russia.

“Diakitè will do everything possible in order to play football. If he hasn’t managed it in January, then we’ll see what the situation is.

“He wants to prove to the directors that he is worth the figure he asked for.”

Lotito claimed Diakitè had asked for wages worth €1.3m per season.
