Modibo Diakitè is reportedly ready to terminate his contract with Sunderland and return to Serie A.
The 27-year-old defender spent the second half of last season on loan with Fiorentina and enjoyed the experience.
He is struggling for playing time at Sunderland and Sky Sport Italia claim this evening he is in negotiations to terminate his contract by mutual consent.
Diakitè only moved from Lazio to Sunderland in July 2013 on a free transfer.
His current deal with the Black Cats runs to June 2016.
While Fiorentina would be his first choice, it is likely they would only bring in Diakitè if Facundo Roncaglia was sold first.
Just in case, he is therefore discussing terms with other Serie A clubs too.
