Eusebio Di Francesco said Sassuolo’s seven-match unbeaten run and victory over Verona is a sign “we are maturing.”
Last season was their first ever foray into Serie A and they appear to be finding their feet at last. By climbing to 18 points, the Neroverdi are now above Inter in the standings.
“All this is the result of hard work and the effort of the lads,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia after a comeback to win 2-1.

“We played good football in the first half, although perhaps suffered a little at the very start. The team played the way I asked and pounced on the right opportunity.
“We are maturing and therefore did not let our heads drop even after going a goal down.”
Di Francesco is a tactical disciple of Zdenek Zeman and that shows in his approach to the 4-3-3 system.
“When we want to develop the kind of wide-ranging attack moves that we favour, it’s obvious we leave ourselves open to counter-attacks, but it’s a risk I am willing to take.
“All my strikers have great quality, although at times their youth can lead them to make mistakes.”
