Eusebio Di Francesco revealed a Domenico Berardi pact and hinted Michael Agazzi could join Sassuolo.
The Neroverdi Coach spoke after a 1-0 friendly win over local rivals Bologna this evening, decided by a Berardi goal.
“We worked on Berardi cutting in to shoot with his right-foot, even though he is primarily left-footed. I’m holding on tight to him this season,” Di Francesco told Sky Sport Italia.
“I am not surprised he turned down big clubs to stay at Sassuolo. We had made a pact, as he told me ‘if you stay, then I’m staying too.’”
Berardi is technically owned by Juventus, but will remain at Sassuolo for one more season to gain experience.
Sassuolo will have to do without goalkeeper Gianluca Pegolo for at least two months after he fractured his leg, so Di Francesco confirmed interest in Milan benchwarmer Agazzi.
“I cannot name names, as the negotiations are conducted by our directors. I will say to replace Pegolo we need a goalkeeper with certain characteristics and Agazzi has those.
“I think Milan signed him to be the back-up to Christian Abbiati. In any case, we will have to make a move for that role.”
