Next weekend’s Genoa derby will be decisive in terms of Sampdoria boss Marco Giampaolo’s future.

Eccentric club President Massimo Ferrero has already hinted on Twitter that the axe could fall on the former Empoli Coach, and Giampaolo’s men could only muster a 1-1 draw with Pescara at the weekend, now sitting just one point above them in the table in 15th place.

His future now rests with the Genoa derby next weekend, and Tuttosport report that there has already been talk of potential replacements should the Coach fail to secure a result against Sampdoria’s cross-town rivals.

Former Udinese boss Stefano Colantuono is reportedly the favourite should Giampaolo be fired, with Luigi De Canio and Stefano Pioli also mentioned as potential candidates.
