Fiorentina patron Andrea Della Valle has accused Juventus of ‘amateurish behaviour’ for disrupting their move for Dimitar Berbatov.
As the Bulgarian completed a move to Fulham this afternoon, Della Valle was still fuming at what he felt was Juve’s deliberate attempt to stop the Viola signing the player.
The Bianconeri reportedly turned the player’s head at the last minute with an offer to double the wages that Fiorentina had offered him.
Manchester United had given the player permission to travel to Florence to undergo a medical, but he did not turn up, and Della Valle blames the Serie A champions.
“I consider the interference in the Fiorentina-Berbatov affair, one concluded between the club and the player, a shameful thing and amateurish,” he stated on Friday.
“They probably think over there that in order to win anything is lawful. We don’t think like that at Fiorentina.
“I would have never have expected such behaviour from that club and their President.”
Juventus director general Beppe Marotta has insisted that he only made a move for Berbatov after he had already rejected the Tuscans.
