Alessandro Del Piero admits Napoli-Juventus “is a very special” game and he’s impressed by Lorenzo Insigne.

The Sydney FC star spoke to newspaper Il Mattino about tomorrow night’s clash, click here for a match preview.

“The San Paolo is a very special stadium for me and it must be in the destiny of anyone who wears the Number 10 jersey.

“If I think back to the goal I scored from a free kick here in Serie B, I must say both Napoli and Juventus have come a long way.”

In 2006-07 these two giants were both in the second division, as the Bianconeri were punished for Calciopoli and the Partenopei were working their way back up from Serie C after bankruptcy.

“I think that staying with Juventus in Serie B, even before I knew how large the points penalty was going to be, was the best decision I could’ve made,” added Del Piero.

“I had an extraordinary season that gave extra meaning to everything that came afterwards, including the trophy I lifted on the last game at the Juventus Stadium.

“I think in future Napoli can fight for the Scudetto with Juventus, as Aurelio De Laurentiis has planned very well and it still needs a little time to build a great squad.”

Del Piero will be watching tomorrow’s match from Australia and has been particularly impressed by one of Napoli’s home-grown talents.

“I really like Insigne, as I think he can go far. I don’t think it’s wise to give advice, as he knows what he has to do, first of all to never stop cultivating and working on that talent. I wish him all the best and I was glad to hear his sincere words of praise for me.

“As for Juventus, their strength is that winning mentality. This team wins because it learned how to suffer when the results did not come. My teammates are doing extraordinary things.”
