New Verona Coach Luigi Del Neri is confident there’s “quality in the squad” and of avoiding relegation.

The former Juventus boss was confirmed as Andrea Mandorlini’s replacement earlier today, and addressed the media in his introductory Press conference.

“I thank the President [Maurizio Setti] because I wanted to get back into football which counts,” Del Neri told journalists.

“Here there’s a club with lots of passion and tradition. At Verona I’ve found quality in the squad, and I see the possibility of achieving salvation.

“Mandorlini payed the price for the recent results, but that doesn’t detract from what he did for Verona.

“We’ll do everything to stay in this division.

“We’ll work on motivation, we’re not going to tear-up the great work done my Mandorlini. We’ll start from the basis of 4-3-3 and then see if we can change something.

“I want a team that plays on the front-foot, then you can compete with everyone, even the big teams.

“[Luca] Toni and [Giampaolo] Pazzini can co-exist, no doubt.

“But Hellas also have other very good individuals: [Emil] Hallfredsson [Federico] Viviani [Jacopo] Sala and [Luca] Siligardi for example.”
