Stefan de Vrij is expected to sign a new contract with Lazio by the end of this week, with a €25m release clause.
The Dutch international’s current deal runs until June 30 of this year, and it appeared he would leave on a free transfer.
However, the centre-back is grateful for the way the Biancocelesti stood by him during a series of knee injuries, and in recent days reports have emerged that he would extend his contract.

Now Sky Sport Italia is reporting that an agreement has been reached, and all that’s remaining is an official announcement.
It’s believed De Vrij has agreed a one-year extension to his current deal, with a €25m release clause.
The Aquile had hoped to set that figure higher, but were backed into a corner by the prospect of losing the defender for free.
With a €25m clause De Vrij will almost certainly leave after this season, but this way he ensures that Lazio get a fee for him.
