Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong insists the Rossoneri’s recent woes are not the fault of Coach Filippo Inzaghi.
Milan lost 2-0 at home to Palermo on Sunday night, with whistles being directed at Inzaghi for the first time. Dutch midfielder De Jong believes this is unfair.
“It’s not his [Inzaghi’s] fault,” De Jong told a Press conference announcing Milan’s corporate partnership with Braun.
“We win together and we lose together. Of course when we lose, he’s the first one to be blamed because he has to face the cameras. We have a lot of work to do.
“I don’t know what’s happened, we always play to win and right now it’s proving difficult. We continue to work, and we believe in ourselves.
“We didn’t have a good game against Palermo, but we believe that third or fourth place is a realistic target for us.
“We go to Genoa [to face Sampdoria on Saturday] with confidence.”
The player was also asked about progress in talks over extending his contract beyond June next year.
“That is a question for Galliani. I am happy here in Milan and I see no problems for my contract. Let’s see.”
