Frank de Boer reveals he spoke to Aaron Winter and Clarence Seedorf before accepting the Inter job, “but I mustn’t lose my identity.”
The former Ajax Coach is making his first foray into Italian football and took over from Roberto Mancini only 10 days ago.
“I haven’t spoken to Jose Mourinho, but I did talk to Aaron Winter about what Inter are like, as he’s a very good friend of mine. I spoke also to Clarence Seedorf, so there are guys who have a lot of experience playing in Italy,” said De Boer in a Press conference.

“I also need to experience it for myself and not lose my identity. They signed me because I am Frank de Boer and I want to prove I am capable of managing Inter for hopefully many years.
“I am used to making decisions. Some are nice, some not so nice, but that’s the life of a manager at a club like Inter. It’s a very long season and we will need everybody.
“I talked to the players and told them you have to be disappointed if you don’t play, but the best signal you can give to me is to work hard in training to get into the team next game. I’d love to field 12 players, but I don’t think it’s allowed…
“I am very enthusiastic as the squad is eager to do what we want them to do. They also have their own identity, so I was very happy with that mixture.
“We told them what we want from this team and they believe in it, showing that in every training session. I have no negative things to say. I am confident we can start very well.”
De Boer was also asked about the bid for €45m-rated Sporting winger Joao Mario and potential Marcelo Brozovic sale.
“Brozovic and Joao Mario are fantastic players. I’d love, if possible, to have them in the same team. I am focused on the first game and after Sunday we’ll see if we really go in for Joao Mario or other players to add to this squad.
“First of all we have to focus totally on Chievo.
“If you see the kind of games we play, you need a very strong squad. I don’t think the midfield is fully complete, as we don’t have that many midfielders and need different types too.
“We need to be very careful if we are to do it with this squad or bring someone else in. The players mentioned can bring something different that we don’t have in this team.”
