New Chievo Coach Lorenzo D’Anna says today’s crucial 2-1 win over Crotone was more thanks to predecessor Rolando Maran than him.

With the Flying Donkeys deep in relegation trouble, D’Anna made the step up from the club’s Primavera team to succeed Maran after the former boss was sacked last week.

“This victory was little to do with D’Anna and a lot to do with the boys and Maran, who I need to thank,” the new Bentegodi tactician commented after a winning start to his tenure.

“I am happy with the result, for how the boys suffered and how they believed in winning.”

Following a vital victory that lifted the Flying Donkeys out of the relegation zone, club legend D’Anna revealed how much he had enjoyed his first experience as first team boss.

“The emotion of sitting on this bench was immense.

“Seeing a full stadium was a throwback to the past. I saw the same enthusiasm that was there 10 years ago.”
