And the Brazilian centre-back has insisted that his team, if they focus on themselves, can fight for a place in Europe next term.
“In defence we have been playing well, but the whole team has found a nice balance,” he told Messagero Veneto.
“The results have been very positive at the moment and we are back in the block of teams fighting for a place in Europe.
“It's difficult to pick a single name amongst Roma, Lazio and Inter [who could also challenge].
“I think it certainly helps that the two Roman teams are in the Coppa Italia final – perhaps they'll waster more energy from a mental point of view.
“We just have to think about ourselves though and try to win as many games as possible.”
