Urbano Cairo hinted that Danilo D’Ambrosio’s move to Inter may not happen, but he is reported as set for a medical today.
Il Toro have been in negotiations this month with Inter over a proposed deal for the highly rated full-back, but these were seen to have stalled recently over a failure to agree what players the Nerazzurri would include in a part-exchange deal and what level of ownership Torino would take on those involved.
However, whilst the Granata’s President has hinted that the player may have been having second thoughts, reports have since indicated that an agreement has been reached and that the 25-year-old will undergo a medical in the coming hours to complete formalities.
“I do not want to talk about it anymore, he probably wants to consider other options, whilst I do not know to what extent Inter are prepared to go,” Cairo commented on Radio Anch’io Sport today, before developments of D’Ambrosio’s believed agreement came through.
“I think that he has developed a relationship with Inter, but I believe at the moment that the decision to leave Torino during this wonderful moment is having its effect.”
Alessio Cerci’s recent form has also attracted transfer speculation.
“He has a contract until 2016, we are considering extending that but on one condition – that he is happy to stay in Turin.
“If there are offers from big clubs, our intentions are not to hold him back. Otherwise, we want to keep him for life.”
Cairo also mused on Torino’s performance so far this season that has them seventh in the table.
“I am happy for the performances from this Torino, I am not getting excited because I have seen the worst moments, but I am happy.
“After the promotion and the first year in Serie A, we have improved the team with targeted moves, and especially with the work of [Giampiero] Ventura, who in addition to being good on the field, has also created a great atmosphere in the dressing room, where everyone is together and giving their all for each other.”
