The striker went off injured for the Italy Under-21s, and wasn’t fit to make the trip to Cagliari at the weekend.
It was hoped that he’d be ready for Europe, but he hasn’t been included in Gennaro Gattuso’s travelling party.
Mateo Musacchio and Suso have also been left out for the trip to Luxembourg.
