Chievo boss Eugenio Corini is dealing with an injury crisis ahead of today’s match with Lazio. “Vladimir Petkovic has found the right alchemy for his team.”

The Flying Donkeys are without stars such as Sergio Pellissier, Luciano, Boukary Drame, Rinaldo Cruzado and Mamadou Samassa for the 17.00 GMT kick-off. Click here for a match preview.

Goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino has also left, completing his €4m transfer to Palermo.

“Let’s just say that it was more of an emotional problem than a technical one, as Stefano didn’t turn up to training and that prompted some angry reactions,” said Corini.

“I tried to calm everyone down and I’m glad the situation was resolved. We need to focus on our own path and Stefano has found the destination he wanted. Each of us have to take our path.”

Lazio are flying high in joint second place, but have always had problems in this fixture, as Chievo’s only Olimpico defeat was in 2003, followed by two wins and five draws.

“If we look at the last two seasons, we can see that Lazio have fought for the Champions League. They have done very well and Petkovic has found the right alchemy for his team.

“The Biancocelesti are also finding consistency and are unbeaten in 16 official matches. When they go behind, they almost always manage to recover, such as the Coppa Italia semi-final against Juventus on Tuesday.”

Corini is without a host of stars, but can give Felipe Seymour his first call-up after the transfer from Genoa.
