“I did feel strong emotions when I answered the President’s call, just as I did when driving to the meeting. Now I am concentrated on the field,” said Corini in today’s Press conference.
“I can only say thank you to the people of Palermo and the fans of this wonderful club.
“The important thing is we must react to anything that happens, fight any negative situation and always push forward. This is what we need, always.
“The game starts from 0-0 and we must have the mental strength to not think about the possibility of defeat, but remain united as a team on that pitch.
“Fiorentina had a very strong reaction when going 3-0 down to Inter with 10 men, so that shows the strength of the side. It’s a good test for us.
“I expect a moral boost from all the players, including the youngest ones. To secure safety we need to have three sides behind us in the table and in my view they all have quality. We must focus above all on ourselves and what we can do to stay in Serie A.”
There are some concerns for Corini, above all suspension ruling out Alessandro Diamanti, Giancarlo Gonzalez and Edoardo Goldaniga.
Bruno Henrique won’t be risked after fracturing his hand, as “we want him in good shape against Chievo,” while Simone Bentivegna, Aleksandar Trajkovski and Slobodan Rajkovic are sidelined.
“Thiago Cionek has recovered and that’s important, because he has great physical strength. Pezzella reminds me a little of Giorgio Chiellini, he has a good foot as well as aggression.
“I have a specific system in mind and it requires hard work with lots of running. At the back there are four lads pushing for three places.”
