Tottenham Hotspur coach Antonio Conte and assistant Cristian Stellini would relish an ‘internal battle’ with Inter in the Champions League Round of 16.

Spurs went from potential early elimination to winning their group deep into stoppages with a 2-1 win away to Olympique Marseille last night.

Conte was forced to watch on from the stands because of a touchline ban, so assistant manager Stellini took over both the bench and the post-match media duties.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, he was asked how Conte would see a potential reunion with his old club in the Round of 16.

“It wouldn’t be bad in terms of entertainment and spectacle to have this opportunity,” replied Stellini.

“It’d be a great game, a real internal battle. The truth is, anything is good in the draw, we would be happy regardless.”

Conte won the Scudetto at Inter, but failed both times to progress past the Champions League group phase.

Instead, his replacement Simone Inzaghi has finished second in Serie A, winning the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana, qualifying for the Round of 16 in both his seasons at the helm.

Inter finished second in their group behind Bayern Munich, sending Barcelona to the Europa League.
