Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso has revealed he will not be able to reach Florence due to the coronavirus pandemic and apologised for not being able to stay with the team during the conclusion of Serie A.
The Viola resumed with a 1-1 draw against Brescia and continue against Lazio on Saturday, but they will be without the presence of their patron during this season’s run-in.
“Unfortunately, the current problems related to coronavirus, which continues to reap new victims all over the world, I will not be able to reach Florence, as I had planned and desired,” he told the club’s official website.
“My heart is with the team and our fans. I will continue to support our boys without being able to be close to them in this very special season finale.
“The current situation doesn’t allow me to do otherwise. I will always follow our team from America and hope I can hug everyone as soon as possible."
