Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso hit out at the handling of his club’s 2-1 defeat to Lazio. “What happened was a bit scandalous.”
Lazio’s winner came despite Jordan Lukaku possibly fouling Riccardo Sottil, and Commisso was furious the referee did not refer to VAR, while sympathising with Franck Ribery who shoved one of the officials after the game.
“I’m not feeling great right now,” he told Radio Anch’io Sport.
“I’m in the US right now, I left Italy after the game against Juventus but I didn’t like what happened last night against Lazio.
“We have replays in the US, but now in Italy I understand them more. I believe what happened yesterday was a bit scandalous.
“Ribery, the poor lad, was a bit agitated and made a mistake, even if he maybe he had reason to. But everything starts from a foul that wasn’t given.
“Why is VAR there if it isn’t used? It was the same against Napoli. If Ribery is banned, we’ll do something about it.
“There are international rules, the players must respect them but the referees must do so too.
The Italo-American tycoon, on the other hand, was more positive about breakout stars Federico Chiesa and Gaetano Castrovilli.
“I already said it recently. Chiesa’s definitely staying for at least another year. After that, the lad must do his thing.
“He plays with a smile on his face. He wasn’t in the best shape last night but still had a great game.
“As for Castrovilli, we’ve got him to sign on for five years. He’s ours and we hope to keep him for a long time.”
