The Orobici had beaten Parma with a last-minute goal, but seemed uninspired in a 2-0 loss at the Stadio Friuli.
“It was a very negative match and this is not the team we are accustomed to seeing,” Colantuono told Rai Sport.
“Since the start of this season, despite losing a few games, we have always played open and attacking football against everyone.
“Today should’ve been a decisive match, a turning point for us, but we got it horribly wrong. It was a completely negative day and we played badly from start to finish.
“I rested German Denis because that way he’ll be fresh against Napoli in midweek. That’s a game he has never got wrong.”
