Inter’s Cristian Chivu admitted to feeling sad that he is leaving the club but says moments like this are part of life.
The defender has been unable to appear for the Nerazzurri since sustaining a foot injury last August and now it has been mutually agreed that he should leave San Siro.
“It’s part of life,” Chivu said to the Inter Channel. “A journey is coming to an end, but a new life begins.
“That’s the way I am looking at it. There are a thousand things I could say and I don’t have the words to describe what I have experienced over the last seven years.
“All I can say is thank you to everyone. I have been given so much thanks to the work of the group and the club.
“The staff and the medical team had a great desire to do something, to create history.
“I have had such brilliant moments that I will take with me in my heart wherever I go.”
Chivu won three Scudetti, two Coppa Italias, one Champions League and one World Club Championship during his stint at San Siro.
