Boss Mimmo Di Carlo is hoping for some new faces and the Nigerian youngster is understood to be a January target.
Obi, 20, has made 12 Serie A appearances so far this season, but he’s only begun four games for the Nerazzurri.
It’s understood that Chievo would like to take the player on loan for the second half of the campaign.
Inter may accept that approach should they themselves bring in a new midfielder after the Christmas break.
Obi was signed as a teenager by the Italian giants in 2005.
