Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa believes he has football in his “DNA” and sees plenty of young Italian talent coming through.
The 20-year-old son of Serie A legend Enrico Chiesa is already a sensation in the Viola jersey.
“As soon as my father put a football in my hands, I immediately started playing with my feet. It’s in the DNA,” smiled Chiesa Junior to the Corriere dello Sport.

The 20-year-old son of Serie A legend Enrico Chiesa is already a sensation in the Viola jersey.
“As soon as my father put a football in my hands, I immediately started playing with my feet. It’s in the DNA,” smiled Chiesa Junior to the Corriere dello Sport.
“You lived and breathed football in my house. At the age of five, I was already registered with the Settignanese youth team and that’s where I began all the way to Serie A.
“To be honest, being the son of a player never made much difference to me. I didn’t feel it was a privilege or a weight on my shoulders. You don’t get to play football because of your name, but because you’re good at the sport. It’s one of the areas in life where you cannot benefit from a hereditary title. It’s all about what you deserve.”
Chiesa is considered at the forefront of a new generation in Italian football.
“I saw players in the Under-21 Italy side who are already prepared to make their mark, like Niccolò Barella, Manuel Locatelli, Patrick Cutrone, Cagliari defender Filippo Romagna. They are all ready both technically and physically.
“They have all the potential to become great champions in future.”
