While Bologna have three players positive for COVID-19 and Sassuolo two, Juventus captain Giorgio Chiellini is in isolation after direct contact with someone infected and Inter sent Edin Dzeko home.
There are now at least 31 players who have tested positive for COVID-19 upon their return from the Christmas break.
The latest to announce cases are Bologna, who will be without Nicolas Viola, Nicolas Dominguez and Marco Molla for the big match against Inter on January 6.
Sassuolo have two players who have tested positive, but they have not yet been named.
Juventus resumed training today at the Continassa centre in Turin, but Chiellini was not present.
This is because the defender has been in contact with a person who tested positive for COVID-19.
He is in self-isolation and must provide a negative swab before he resumes training.
The South American players are not expected back until tomorrow and consequently so are their tests.
Meanwhile, Inter striker Edin Dzeko was sent home from training today out of an abundance of caution because he had cold symptoms.
Back to business for the Bianconeri as post-Christmas training resumes 💪

I had not realised they lived together.
Chiellini has had 3 vaccine jabs. That worked well for him.
Vaccine jabs doesn’t prevent you from contracting it. Only prevents serious illness.
What else?
Chiellini also doesn’t have Covid, he is shielding after contact with someone who does.
