“I know from now that if we are relegated to Serie B, there will be the need for cuts to personnel and economic reductions, but I will try to find solutions not to waste the fantastic group we’ve got here,” Lugaresi wrote in a statement.
“In a normal business, you rarely see your income reduced by over 70 per cent in the space of a few months. In football, relegation means that enormous step back.
“I really hope that tonight by beating Atalanta we can hang on to the possibility of staying in Serie A!
“The club proved that it is possible to have football at a certain level in Cesena and the fans have been numerous, also thanks to improvements at the Orogel Stadium Manuzzi.
“We have the 10th highest attendance in Italy for an average of 17,000 spectators per game and a club record 12,308 season ticket holders.
“Unfortunately, not everyone knows that the gate provides only 10 per cent of revenue! Cesena is a small city, but in Romagna the team is of great value.
“It would be nice for the local businesses who so far have shown no interest in the club to come closer and work together.
“I would be the first, if necessary, to take a step back for the good of the club. Everyone is important here, but nobody is indispensable.
“Forza Cesena!”
