Cagliari chief Massimo Cellino has dismissed suggestions that he could be tempted to sack boss Massimo Ficcadenti.
“We don’t need to get rid of a Coach here,” Cellino told the Unione Sarda on Monday. “We bought a lot of youngsters in the summer, many foreigners, so they’ll need time to adapt.
“This is the road that we must continue to follow because we are heading in the right direction,” he maintained.
“Perhaps we have to prepare ourselves for a difficult campaign ahead, but that is the price that you pay when you change as much as we have.”
The Sardinian outfit lost their second consecutive game at the weekend when they fell 1-0 to Atalanta.
That loss now means that the Stadio Sant’Elia boys haven’t won any of their last five matches in the Italian top flight.
Cagliari, currently 10th in Serie A, hired Ficcadenti in pre-season after the decision to sack Roberto Donadoni was taken.
