Massimo Cellino will have to wait for the verdict of his appeal against the Football League’s decision to block his takeover of Leeds United.

Massimo Cellino will have to wait for the verdict of his appeal against the Football League’s decision to block his takeover of Leeds United.

The Cagliari owner was stopped by the League last week from completing a 75 per cent buyout of shares at Elland Road, for failing the League’s Owners’ and Directors’ Test.

Cellino was in London yesterday to appeal the decision to an independent QC, who after hearing both sides of the argument, has retired to consider the case.

“Massimo Cellino's appeal under The Football League's owners’ and directors’ test has now concluded with the independent QC reserving his judgment,” read the Football League’s statement on the matter.

Cellino had been bankrolling Leeds for the past two months during takeover talks, but stopped last week, forcing players and staff at the club into a 50 per cent paycut.
