Massimo Cellino has announced he has agreed to sell Cagliari to businessman Tommaso Giulini.
Up until today it had been expected that an American consortium, headed by Luca Silvestrone, would conclude a deal to buy the Sardinian club.
However, despite Silvestrone’s claims earlier today that his party were in the final stages of negotiations to acquire the Rossazzurri, Cellino has now said he will sell to Giulini.
“I’ve reached an agreement with Giulini for the sale of Cagliari,” Cellino told Sky Sport this evening. “The Americans were stalling and wanted another 90 days’ worth of time.
“I’ve accepted to sell to Giulini and the operation should be finalised very soon. I wish them every success. Now my heart is in Leeds.”
