Massimo Cellino sacked Coach Diego Lopez “to shake up the team,” said Cagliari director of sport Nicola Salerno.

Cagliari brought in Ivo Pulga, who had been fired as assistant manager to Lopez in mid-February.
“We have to focus on achieving safety as soon as possible,” Salerno told tuttomercatoweb.
“The President decided to change in order to shake up the team, having seen a few negative results. In order to modify the situation, he opted for this move.”
Cagliari face a head-to-head for safety with Sassuolo at the weekend, who are fresh from a 2-0 win away to Atalanta.
“It is above all an important game for Sassuolo. We will face this challenge with the utmost effort and concentration.
“We are fairly calm, but still focused to get the best result possible. We are fully aware that we need to get points.”
It has been a complicated week for Cagliari President Cellino, who got the go-ahead to complete his takeover of Leeds United.
