The Sardinian businessman is set to finally acquire control of the Championship club after winning an appeal against the Football League’s decision to prevent him from completing the takeover.

Now, it is said that one of his first decisions could be to axe current boss Brian McDermott in favour of Zola, who has had previous managerial spells at West Ham and Watford.

Should the sacking take place this week, it would be the second committed by Cellino in a matter of days.

He yesterday dispensed with the services of Coach Diego Lopez, the Coach of his Italian side Cagliari.
