“I want to forget about Cagliari now. My heart is with Leeds,” said new owner Massimo Cellino.
“I want to forget about Cagliari now. My heart is with Leeds,” said new owner Massimo Cellino.
The Cagliari President announced he has an agreement to sell the Serie A club to investors, who it’s reported are either American or Qatari.
His comments to The Sun on Sunday seemed to confirm Cellino is cutting all ties with the Sardinian team.
“If I was running a Fiat 500 in Italy, now I have the chance to run a Ferrari. I want to forget about Cagliari now. My heart is with Leeds.”
Cellino has agreed a deal to buy 75 per cent of Leeds United, though it is still subject to approval from the Football League.
He caused controversy last week when appearing to sack manager Brian McDermott, but insists he was not responsible for that call.
“I want to get to know the manager and help him. I hope he can help me as well. We are going to work together.
“When I am approved by the Football League, I will go to the bank the next day and buy Elland Road.”
